Consultant Paediatrician

£76,761-£103,490 per annum

Applications are invited for a full time permanent Consultant Paediatrician in General Paediatrics and Neonates. In addition the appointee will share responsibility with another Consultant in looking after children with cystic fibrosis, CLD, severe asthma and allergies, however applications from those with an interest in other subspecialties would also be welcomed.

This is a replacement post and the appointee will be part of a team of 10 Consultants providing a 1 in 9 on call weekend rota and a 1 in 9 week of take, supported by 10 middle grade staff (5 SpRs on Mersey Deanery Rotation, 2 Clinical Fellows and 3 ST3 Paediatric trainees) along with 10 wte ST1/2 and F2 doctors.

Candidates are expected to be on the Specialist Register, hold a Certificate of Specialist Training (CCT) or be within 6 months of CCT at the time of appointment.

Enabling our patients to receive outstanding care through our dynamic, dedicated and multi-skilled medical teams is an objective we adhere to since the Trust has been established, in 1991. The state of the art, award winning facilities recently built allow us now more than ever to offer the support deserved by our community and the services provided by the Paediatric Department are well received and valued.

We pride ourselves on being a friendly, caring team within the Medical Care Group, with an active Audit and Clinical Governance Structure. The Department was scored OUTSTANDING in CARING at the latest CQC inspection in August 2015 and consistently achieves satisfaction scores of over 95% in the Friends and Family Test.

There are active postgraduate and undergraduate teaching programmes with medical students attending regularly from the University of Liverpool. There are close links to the Tertiary Paediatric Centre at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, with joint specialty clinics held locally in Cystic Fibrosis, Neurology and Epilepsy.

The post is subject to an enhanced DBS check with child barred lists.

Candidates are expected to be on the Specialist Register, hold a Certificate of Specialist Training (CCT) or be within 6 months of CCT at the time of appointment.
