Job overview

The Endoscope Decontamination Unit are looking for Bank staff who are interested in supporting the Department

Shift patterns may vary as required:

Days 9am to 5pm

Lates 1pm to 9pm

Weekends and Bank Holidays

The role involves collecting used (contaminated) endoscopes and delivering clean endoscopes to the user departments

Manual cleaning of the contaminated endoscopes in sinks

Use of the endoscope washer disinfector machines

Loading of clean endoscopes into the storage/ drying cabinets located within the user departments

PPE is worn during the decontamination procedures as routine due to biological and chemical hazards and to maintain infection control standards

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To decontaminate flexible endoscopes to agreed standards as per departmental standard operational procedures.

To ensure endoscopes are stored and transported in line with agreed standards as per departmental standard operational procedures.

To ensure all equipment used to decontaminate flexible endoscopes is used correctly.

To ensure by working within the decontamination team that there is an efficient and responsive decontamination service that will support patient and staff safety.
