St Helens & Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is one of the leading acute Trusts in the North West of England. We provide a full range of acute adult services to our local population of circa 350,000 and provide tertiary services across a much wider area in the North West, North Wales and Isle of Man. We are a Major Trauma Unit and the Mersey Regional Burns Unit.

Our '5 Star Patient Care' strategy is at the heart of all that we do; supporting our vision to provide world class services for all our patients by getting it right for every patient, every time.

We are looking to recruit a candidate with special interests in Intensive Care Medicine and Anaesthetics or Acute Medicine or Emergency Medicine.

The critical care unit is amongst the longest established critical care units in the UK. The clinical team is led by a multidisciplinary consultant body comprising of emergency medicine/consultant in critical care, four consultants in critical care/anaesthesia, a consultant in critical care /emergency medicine & a consultant in critical care and in AMU.

We are a team of 8 Critical Care Consultants including the new appointee. The Critical Care Consultant does have a dedicated desk space, computer and secretarial support. We have two Higher ICM trainees and a Clinical Fellow  as well. The rota is covered by eleven trainees and there are always two trainees covering the on call period 24/7.

Applicants should have full GMC registration and License to Practice, and be on the Specialist Register or within six months of receiving CCT at the time of interview.

An Enhanced DBS (Adults and Children) check is required for this post.
