St Helens & Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is one of the leading acute Trusts in the North West of England. We provide a full range of acute adult services to our local population of circa 350,000 and provide tertiary services across a much wider area in the North West, North Wales and Isle of Man. We are a Major Trauma Unit and the Mersey Regional Burns Unit.

This post offers an exciting opportunity for a hardworking and committed Clinical Pharmacist to participate in our new initiative for 7 day working, further developing your clinical skills and providing you with the experience to be able progress to an advanced pharmacist role.
candidates within 6 months of completion of their diploma will be considered and will be paid at 75% top of band 7 moving to the bottom of band 7 in successful completion
The post holder will participate in a structured clinical rotation offering you experience in various specialities including: acute medical admissions, surgery, palliative care, and general medicine. The role will also involve covering St Helens Dispensary during periods of sickness and annual leave. This will give the successful candidate the opportunity to further their organisational and decision making skills.
In each rotation the successful candidate will be expected to provide a high level of pharmaceutical care to patients, participate on consultant ward rounds, provide and analyse relevant financial information, undertake clinical audit and be actively involved in the education and training of junior pharmacists, pre-registration pharmacists and other healthcare professions. The department operates a 7 day service to the Trust, and as part of this role the successful candidate will be expected to participate in the rostered shift system which is currently 1 in 6. Participation in the late night working and pharmacy on-call will also be required. We have over 80 staff operating across Whiston and St Helens Hospitals. We have established automated dispensing systems within the dispensaries at both sites. Our Pharmacy Team is committed to continuous personal and professional growth and aims to give the necessary support to ensure that our team members needs can be met. Our last Investors in People Assessment recognised our pharmacy as an outstandingly good department for staff support and development.
An Enhanced Disclosure, with the checking of Children’s and Adults Barred Lists from the Disclosure & Barring Service is required for this post.
